Explore the remarkable Late Antique settlements of northwest Syria, where stone houses, churches, monasteries, tombs and agricultural buildings survive across a landscape once filled with prosperous rural communities. One of Syria’s six UNESCO World Heritage properties, these villages reveal everyday countryside life in the Roman and Byzantine periods. The day may include Qal’at Sem’an and the Basilica of Saint Simeon, Qalb Lozeh or selected preserved villages, where access and local conditions allow.
