Bosra was the capital of the Roman province of Arabia and an important caravan stop. Its second-century theatre is exceptionally preserved within later fortifications, but the visit extends well beyond it: basalt streets, urban remains, mosques and ruined churches reveal Nabataean, Roman, Byzantine and Islamic layers in one compact landscape.
