Adra

Why it matters
Hujr ibn Adi is remembered for his association with Ali ibn Abi Talib and for his execution under Muawiya. His place in early Muslim history is closely tied to questions of loyalty, political authority and the memory of civil conflict. His classification and the interpretation of these events differ across historical and religious traditions.
Historical context
The shrine attributed to him at Adra northeast of Damascus was desecrated in 2013. That history makes it especially important not to describe an intact tomb or visitor experience without current evidence. A biography of Hujr and a report about the present physical site answer different questions.
Your visit
Keep this as a contextual entry unless a local specialist verifies the exact site, its condition and the possibility of a respectful visit. It should not be sold as a routine extension of a city tour. The account should acknowledge the sensitivity of the history without inviting visitors into sectarian debate.
Traditioneel toegeschreven graf
Wat de toeschrijving betekent
Traditioneel toegeschreven graf. Een maqam bewijst op zichzelf geen graf. Elke kaart maakt daarom onderscheid tussen documentatie en levende traditie.
